January 26, 2004Sharing All Good Things With The One Who Teaches Him ... Galatians 6:4
Rev Jen's Neighborhood

I thought I would give you a little update on some of the local activities we are involved in at the moment.

First of all, I have started volunteering as a ministry team trainee for the Kalispell Healing Rooms. This local Healing Rooms ministry is a member of the IAHR (International Association of Healing Rooms) of Spokane, WA. The Kalispell office is open on Thursdays and Fridays for prayer and ministry to the community. It has been a wonderful experience serving as one of the volunteer 'prayer warriors'. I try to go in every Friday. For more information, contact: (406) 257-9694.

Another new area of ministry has just opened up with our local church, New Covenant Fellowship. Starting on February 9, 2004, I will be facilitating a weekly small group study of "The Healing Circle". This is a 10 week Christian Bible Study created by Dwayne Thomas and Gordon Buck that looks at the Residential Indian Boarding Schools. We have already gone through this study once with a group of ladies that met in our home. That was a very wonderful time of discovery and fellowship. Now I have the opportunity to partner with our church in going through the study again. Our hope is to equip people who are just starting in Native Ministry, encourage those already in Native Ministry, and most importantly, lift up and validate the Native Believers in our congregation. For more information on the study materials, visit HealingTheLand.Com.

'Dave the Builder' Goes To Las Vegas

Las Vegas. What can you say about Las Vegas ... that hasn't been said before?

David and I had a good trip to 'The Strip' for the 2004 International Home Builders Show. We went with Dave's partner, Harry Basham, and Dave's father, Wade Covill. The four of us arrived Monday, Jan 19, and raced to the scheduled "Opening Ceremonies'. There were 9,000 - 10,000 people there to hear former president, George H. Bush, speak about the "Magic of America". ( NOTE: There were over 100,000 registered for the conference!!)

Mr. Bush has quite a sense of humor. At one point he did an imitation of Dana Carvey, imitating him. He does Dana, doing George, very well. (smile).

He wrapped up his speech saying that the most important thing is 'Family'. He shared a very heart warming story about this past Thanksgiving and his son, President George W. Bush. He said that the two families had plans to share a turkey dinner and take a fishing trip. However, when he and his wife arrived at the cabin, they found out that President Bush was in Baghdad. So father and son were unable to share the holiday meal and they were unable to go fishing. Mr. Bush and his wife returned home.

Then at 5:00 AM the next morning, Mr. Bush gets a knock on the door. As he opens the door, there is his son, George W, ready to go fishing. Apparently our president arrived home from Baghdad, changed clothes, and then went to keep his fishing date with his dad. A story of keeping family important.

Mr. Bush also gave a little advice. He said we should remember our friends as we are moving up (in careers, positions, etc), because we will need them on our way down.!!

Although he was talking about political careers and the business world, this is very applicable to ministry, too!! Whether we stumble in our walk and have to take a little 'break' to regroup, or we retire after a long and successful journey, we can not afford to be alone at the bottom!

Prayer Needs

We have a few needs, both as a family and for the ministry. First of all, we need a group of intercessors that are praying specifically for us, our family, our business and our ministry. We have been very successful in mobilizing prayer for others, and now we have come to a place where we certainly appreciate a prayer team, too.

Second, we have some financial needs. Over the past 3 1/2 years, the majority of the financial support for our ministry has come out of our own pockets. Probably about 75%. This has certainly had an effect on our personal finances. As the ministry continues to grow, the expenses increase and we are now at a point where we need this ministry to be supporting itself.

Third, we are needing volunteers to help us locally and nationally.

Please pray regarding these needs. Ask Father how He would have you partner with us. We are in need of regular prayer partners, financial partners and volunteers. Thank you so much.
