APRIL and MAY MINISTRY UPDATES
Leslie Toman and I had a great time traveling in
April. As many of you know, we had a wonderful time
at the Circle of the Creator conference hosted by
TIPI Ministries, a Native Ministry of Walk On The
Water Church in Osage Beach, MO. It was such a
blessing to see Billie Orr again and to meet Pastor
Larry Ollison and his lovely wife. The messages that
were given by various leaders and servants in Native
Ministry, including Kyle Taylor, Barry Belindo,
Jonathan Maracle and myself are all available on CD.
I encourage you to get a hold of a copy.
Also, while we are on this trip we were blessed to
minister with Pastors Kyle and Marcia Taylor in
Wisconsin. First, we shared at a chapel service of
the Christian Life High School in Kenosha, WI. There
were over 500 students ranging from 6th grade
through 12th grade. Pastor Bill & Jan Gowey from
Reztoration Ministries based in Flagstaff, AZ were
the primary speakers. They gave me the opportunity
to read the Lord's Prayer in Cherokee, sing a
traditional song in Cherokee, share alittle bit
about who I am and then join them in a dance
presentation. Second, I was blessed to join the
Taylor's and Gowey's as they ministered at Brighten
Elementary School.
One of the huge blessings was staying with Gina
Merritt and her family in ILLINIOS. (smile). Gina
lives in Illinois just across the border from
Wisconsin. While in Illinois, Leslie and I went down
to Palatine to see my old house and neighborhood. I
lived in Palatine, Illinios during my High School
years.
As wonderful as that all was, the highlight was
being asked to minister through dance at the Many
Nations One Voice celebration with the Warriors for
Christ! Ft. Hall Dance & Drama Team. I have know
Ernestine Ellsworth and her family for several years
now. We first met when I was serving as the
secretary for Warriors for Christ here in Montana.
There are no words for how much this meant to me!
Thank you, Yahweh!!
Once we returned home, I was blessed to minister at
the Glacier Christian School in Columbia Falls. The
kids were so sweet and enthusiastic. The best part
was when a little boy asked me what languages I
could speak. After I mentioned that I know a couple
words in Cherokee, Hawaiian, Inuit, Lakota, Spanish,
etc .... he asked if I spoke 'cat'. Hummmm. Don't
all NdN people speak 'cat'? ... It was wonderful.
May was a big month for us with the Across Turtle
Island Auction and Night of Native American Praise &
Worship. Our guests included: David & Marie Fong and
others who made up the Love Warriors music ministry
team; Darren Cadman, who many of you know through
his participation with the Dancing The Way team (
who are on tour in the midwest this month!!); The
Warriors for Christ! team from Ft. Hall, Idaho; as
well as Donna Bosn of He Knows My Name.
Wonderful testimonies were shared throughout the
evening, as well as moments of beautiful praise and
worship. The auction was very successful and I want
to thank everyone who participated! Also, as many of
you have heard already through our other e-letters,
the Lord really moved in a powerful way through the
presentation and raising of the Jehovah-Nissi
banner. If you haven't heard about this, I encourage
you to drop me a note or visit the web-site of He
Knows My Name at: www.hkmn.net. There has been a
strong and wonderful bond started between many
Believers around the world through this act of
obedience and worship unto Yahweh and Yeshua.

COVILL FAMILY FUN UPDATES
Wow. What a whirl-wind of activity for our family
over the past several weeks. We sure appreciate your
prayers, encouragement and support!
First of all, today (June 13, 2004) is Dave's 40th
Birthday!! The "Big 4-0". If you get the chance, you
can send him a little birthday greeting at
david@covillandbasham.com.
In April, Dave took a trip to Washington DC with the
Flathead Building Association, Montana Building
Association and National Home Builders Association.
Between meeting with government representatives and
significant lobby groups, Dave found some time to
visit a number of DC sites. His favorite being the
Air & Space museums. Dave said that visiting the
various war memorials really impacted him as he
looked at all the names of all of the people who
gave their lives for this country. He also saw the
home of the new Native American museum, still under
construction. We look forward to taking the family
to DC in the future when it's open.
Our son Joshua is growing up. This year his 5th
grade class went on a 3-day overnight trip to "Big
Creek". He had a great time. The wilderness is
definately his element. He has become known as the
local bird expert. People of all ages call him on a
regular basis to solve their 'birding' questions.
Also, he passed his hunter safety coarses and is
anxious to go hunting. He is also wanting to learn
some bow-hunting.
Our Emma is growing up, too. She just finished
playing baseball this year. She excells at sports
... in fact, anything that is competitive. This year
she played short-stop and pitcher. The highlight was
striking out two players and then tagging out the
runner headed home, getting all three outs for that
inning. She'll be turning 9 next month and is
already planning her party! I am sure it involves a
lot of giggles, glitter and goodies!
As for me, there is always a lot going on! This week
I will be taking my Ordination tests as well as
traveling to Billings, MT for the Annual First
Nations Women's Conference hosted by Aglow. I was
supposed to be attending the annual Montana Sheriff
and Peace Officers Association conference, too.
However, due to some administrative issues that
still need to be smoothed out, the law enforcement
chaplaincy work is unofficially on-hold. However,
there is a couple of other ministry/ employment
opportunities opening up in a couple of weeks. I'll
let you know how they come together in the next
newsletter.
As for other ministry updates, you'll have to scroll
over to the other part of this letter entitled
"April and May Ministry Updates". So much has
happened in the last 2 months that it is almost
impossible to share it all. (smile) I'll give it a
good try, though!!
The big event for our family, besides the upcoming
Convocation of Eagles, is a special trip that Dave,
Josh and Dave's dad, Wade, are taking. They leave
later this week for the Northwest Territories for a
fishing trip! They will be gone 2 to 3 weeks. The
last time Wade and Dave made this trip was when Dave
was a little boy!
