Osiyo Oginali!

Following is our 'plain text' COVILL Family & Ministry NEWS newsletter.  We'll also send an 'html' version. Often when we've sent the 'html' version, it get's bounced back to us because it is too fancy for some of our subscribers.  So this month I thought I'd try and do it this way, too.

RECENT MESSAGES

JONAH AND THE DAY OF ATONEMENT

... First of all, Yahweh was preparing the people of North America for the coming of the exiles.  He did this by speaking to our spiritual leaders through visions and dreams.  There are many accounts of the Creator telling our people about "The Pierced One", the Bible, and His messengers coming from foreign lands.  So, in very general terms, our Native people, humble and obedient, welcomed the messengers.

When the immigrants/ messengers came to this land, they thought to themselves that the indigenous people of the Americas did not know God.   They assumed that the people from the various tribes, bands, clans and nations were all pagan and heathen.  Not heathen in the sense of a people who have forgotten or forsaken God, but, instead, in the sense of never ever knowing God.

Yet, our Native people know the story of creation.  They know the story of the flood.   They know the story of the Tower of Babel.  Our Native people have always known God.  In the Great Mystery's dealings with our people, He has always had a heart of drawing us to Him.   He has always had a heart of deliverance toward our people, this land and all of creation that has ever lived on this land.  His heart is not bent on destroying us. ...

COMING OUT OF EXILE TOGETHER

... The Europeans were sent to North America as exiles, not as conquerers.  That is, God did not give them the land and the peoples, that should destroy it all.  This is made obvious by the fact that (1) they were not the Israelites from a pre-Christ era;  (2)  they were not told by God to go and take possession of the land;  (3)  they were fleeing religious and political persecution in England, and (4) they did not successfully wipe out the inhabitants of North America.  Therefore, they were set to live among the people of North America, not to conquer them.

The indigenous peoples of North America were not evil.  That is, God did not send an enemy upon them, so that they would be destroyed.  This is made obvious because (1) they were not a foreign pre-Christ culture to be overtaken by the Israelites, (2) they were not successfully wiped out and destroyed.  Our Creator purposefully saved a remnant for His good purpose.

Also, God did not intend for the Native peoples of North America to wipe out the Europeans upon their arrival.  If He did, they wouldn't have survived.  The Europeans were brought to North America to test the hearts of the Native people.  Likewise, the Native people, as the spiritual leaders and stewards of the land, were to test the hearts of the Europeans.  As each person who loved God was faced with the sin-stained culture of the other, they were being tested.  At least, I believe that was the original purpose. ...

YOU ARE GOD'S MESSENGERS

... We, as Believers and Followers of Yahweh, His Son Jesus and the Holy Spirit, have a choice.  We can speak healing and life, or we can crush the hearts of others.  A lot of the evangelism that has taken place on Native land, across the nation and around the world throughout history has been tainted with perversion and brutality, causing trauma and death.  Many spirits have been crushed.  Mankind has been using messengers for his own purpose since the beginning.

Remember King David??  He used messengers in committing murder and adultery.  Kings used messengers to deceive and manipulate prophets.  False prophets were sending messengers to manipulate peoples and governments.

Again, messengers were used to send comfort, encouragement, warnings, instruction, news, reports, as well as threats and rumors.  They were used as mediators and often had to carry out tasks, as well as give words and letters.   Some messengers were used for good, and others for evil.

Our job as Believers and messengers of God, is to be a good steward of the insight, enlightenment and revelation that we have received.  We have to truly be about the Master’s business, and not our own.  We have to be trustworthy and faithful messengers, bringing healing and life to others, according to God’s perfect will and good purpose. ...

2006 CONVOCATION OF EAGLES
--------------------------------------------------------

... I was in awe the whole weekend as I watched the creative work of the Lord weave hearts together through the messages, the fellowship, the prayer, the dance, and the opportunities for discussion.  I was also touched by several testimonies that told of how God used our first and second Convocation of Eagles gatherings to birth vision and purpose into the lives of so many people.  The good reports ministered to my heart.  It is such a sacrifice for our family to host this event, and as I heard the testimonies and let them sink into my heart, I know that all of the sacrifice is worth it.

I think the testimonies that touched me the most was those of the Bernard Family.  In 2004, their precious daughter Aurora came to Convocation of Eagles.  She came with a lot of difficult things to overcome.  She left as completely new person.  This year, she came to tell her testimony of how God touched her life in a very dramatic way two years before and of how thankful she was to everyone.   This year, the Bernard's brought their son, Ezra.  Like Aurora two years before, Ezra came with a heavy load.  He arrived as one man and left a completely new man.  As Angel Bernard said, this land is a healing place.  She witnessed God heal her children on this land in 2004 and now in 2006.

I agree, there is a lot of healing that takes place on this land.  We see it on Sunday mornings and we see it during the gatherings, particularly during the Veterans Honor Ceremony.

In 2004 we presented over 20 people with the Warriors Medal of Valor.  Again, this year, we presented over 20 people with the medal.  The healing starts with the Grand Entry, as Veterans carry the flags into the circle, accompanied by the drum and the dancers.  We are all standing at attention in the circle, the singers and drum ministering to our hearts as the warm Montana summer wind brings the flags to life.  Then the colors are posted and the veterans line up for the ceremony.  There is such a strong awareness of the presence of God.  ...

FAMILY NEWS
--------------------------

DAVID:  This has been a busy season for David.  In September the the Flathead Building Association hosted the Parade of Homes.  There were 19 homes to be toured in 3 days.  In addition, Covill and Basham Construction had a home in the parade this year.  We are guessing that there were over 1000 people who came through over the 3 days.

JOSH:  Josh turns 14 in less than 10 days!  He and Dave have already been bow hunting this year.  They didn't get close enough to the deer and elk, however moose were every where.  Unfortunately, they didn't have moose tags!  However, Josh did get a grouse in our front yard the following week.  Yum.

EMMA:  Emma started a new school this year.  She is 11 and is at the Columbia Falls JR High.  She is really enjoying it!  She is playing the trumpet again this year and is doing well academically.

JENY:  I've started working part-time for my dad, Jack High, in his company GoNorthwest as the webmaster.  Visit the site at:   www.gonorthwest.com .  I'm currently reading three books, all of which I highly recommend: (1) The End of the Trail of Tears" by Dale Casteel ISBN 1-59421-012-8;  (2) "His Morning Sun" by Morning Sun Yellow Pony; and (3) "14 Generations: America's Critical Choice for Blessing or Exile" by Diane Wigstone. ISBN 10:0-9741274-7-7 & ISBN 13: 978-0-9741274-7-7.
