Prayer
-
- First Nations Monday, Inc. is
a First Nations prayer network and Internet resource ministry. They
are working to support, encourage and unite Native Ministry around the
country through a multifaceted prayer mobilization effort and through
various web and Internet services. They are also seeking to
introduce the non-Native Body of Christ to the needs and prayer support and
consideration for those serving in Native Ministry. One of their
visions is to widely distribute a "Prayer Guide for First Nations
People and Those Serving in Native Ministry."
-
- The "Prayer Guide for First
Nations People and Those Serving in Native Ministry" is a 52-week
perpetual prayer calendar designed to promote weekly prayer for First
Nations people and ministry. This guide contains a brief prayer and
relevant Scriptures for each Monday. First Nations Monday is
encouraging intercessors and church leaders to incorporate prayer for
Native ministry into their worship services, prayer meetings and outreach
events. They also suggest adding the weekly prayer and Scripture
into personal prayer time, small group meetings, Sunday Worship Service
bulletins and/ or congregational prayer calendars, etc. Week One
started January 7, 2002.
-
- The prayer guide also includes
information about the ministry of First Nations Monday, as well as
endorsements from numerous leaders in Native Ministry. For
information on these ministries and others, you can access their web site
at www.firstnationsmonday.com
or contact Dee Toney, founder of Polished Arrow, for a paper directory by
calling (626) 483-4907.
-
- They have distributed 2500 prayer
guides around the nation and into foreign countries. "It has
been wonderful, " said Jeny Covill, Founder/ Prayer Coordinator for
First Nations Monday. "I just got a letter yesterday from an
inmate in Indiana requesting a Bible and prayer guide! We are
getting emails daily from people who have been blessed by our ministry and
who want to participate in the prayer movement in one way or
another." They have about 600 subscribers to their various
e-mail alerts and egroups.
-
- The ministry has recently expanded
and joined with other ministries to provide a Native American/ First
Nations Christian chatroom. This is a 24/7 place to chit-chat with
Believers that are in Native Ministry or who are Native people. They
found a place on the Internet that provides the service and there is no
software or programs to download. EVERYONE is invited to check it
out. "In a few weeks we'll schedule a time for people to meet
for a topic or guest speaker, but until then - it is a great place to chat
with a friend - 24/7!" Jeny said. Check it out at: http://chat.wwcol.com/cgi-bin/scat.cgi?logon
