"The Creator's Promise ... For The Fallen Warrior"
February 26, 2002 ~ By Jeny Covill

How many times have you grieved and wept for a brother or sister in the Lord, as you have watched them step off the path of Life?  Maybe their detour is for a moment, a season or maybe the rest of their days.  I have found the only peace comes in praying and claiming the Scripture on their behalf.  I kneel before the Father and I ask that He see my tears, as if it were their tears, that He hear my prayers as if it were their prayers and that He hold them, as if He were holding me.  If there is a Fallen Warrior in your life, join me in this prayer.  (What is in italics are my words.  Add the name of your friend where it says My Friend)

A Promise of the Lord's Protection
Isaiah 54:4-8 ( From the Contemporary English Version)

(My Friend) , Don't be afraid or ashamed and don't be discouraged.
(My Friend) , You won't be disappointed.
Forget how sinful you were, ( My Friend ), when you were young;
stop feeling ashamed for being a widow, (alone, abandoned, rejected, orphaned).
The Lord All-Powerful, the Holy God of Israel, rules all the earth.
He is your Creator and husband, (spouse and Father, Friend and Brother), and he will rescue you.

You, (My Friend), were like a young wife (husband, child) brokenhearted and crying because her husband ( his wife, mother, father ) had divorced ( abandoned, rejected ) her (him).
But the Lord your God says, " I am taking you, (My Friend), back!
I rejected you for a while, but with love and tenderness I will embrace you, (My Friend), again.
For a while, I turned away in furious anger.  Now I will have mercy and love you, ( My Friend), forever!
I, your protector and Lord, make this promise."

The Lord Promises Lasting Peace
Isaiah 54:9-10 ( From the Contemporary English Version)

I once promised Noah that I would never again destroy the earth by a flood.
Now I have promised that I will never again get angry and punish you ( My Friend).
Every mountain and hill may disappear.
But I will always be kind and merciful to you ( My Friend);
I won't break my agreement to give your nation peace.

The New Jerusalem  ( The New Warrior)
Isaiah 54:11-17 ( From the Contemporary English Version)

Jerusalem, you ( My Friend) are sad and discouraged, tossed around in a storm.
But I, the Lord, will rebuild your city ( yourself, your marriage, your family, your ministry, etc)
with precious stones;  your foundation I will use blue sapphires.
Your fortresses will be built of rubies, your gates of jewels and your walls of gems.
( My Friend) I will teach your children ( mentioned by name if applicable) and make them successful.

You, (My Friend), will be built on fairness with no fears of injustice;  every one of your worries will be taken far from you.
( My Friend) I will never send anyone to attack your city ( your life, your marriage, your family),
and you will make prisoners of those who do attack.
Don't forget that I created metalworkers who make weapons over burning coals.
I also created armies that can bring destruction.
Weapons made to attack you, (My Friend), won't be successful;
words spoken against you (My Friend) won't hurt at all.

My servants, Jerusalem is yours!
I, the Lord, promise to bless you, (My Friend) with victory.

Dedicated to my friend,
a warrior who has only temporarily fallen
and will rise again! - Jeny
